Growing up in a small town, becoming a makeup artist never felt like a realistic dream. Creativity was always a part of who I was—I even graduated high school with an art scholarship for painting—but I wasn't sure how to turn that passion into a career.

After a semester of art school, I found myself searching for a different path. I enrolled in college to study addiction and mental health counseling and spent more than six years working in social work. While I loved helping people, something never felt quite right. Deep down, I knew I wasn't living authentically, and I couldn't ignore the feeling that I was meant for something more creative.
In 2015, I took a chance on myself and enrolled in a makeup academy. From the moment I picked up a brush, everything clicked. I fell completely in love with the artistry, the creativity, and most of all, the opportunity to help people feel confident and beautiful. Bridal beauty quickly became my favorite because it combined everything I loved: artistry, connection, and being part of one of the most meaningful days in someone's life.

The following year, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life. I left my job, stepped away from my master's program, and chose to pursue this dream wholeheartedly. It was scary, uncertain, and completely worth it. Like many entrepreneurs, the journey wasn't always glamorous. I worked multiple jobs, gained experience wherever I could, and continued building my skills while growing Taylor Marie Beauty one client at a time. In January 2020, I signed the lease on my very first studio space. Just a few months later, the world shut down. I remember wondering if I had made the biggest mistake of my life.

Instead of giving up, I kept believing in the dream.
As weddings returned, so did the excitement of serving brides. What began as one artist with a passion has grown into a trusted luxury bridal beauty team of 24 talented artists, serving hundreds of weddings every year throughout Minnesota and beyond. Looking back, I'm so grateful I took that leap.

Taylor Marie Beauty has never been just about hair and makeup. It's about helping people feel seen, celebrated, and confident in moments they'll remember forever. It's about creating a calm, joyful experience where every client feels cared for from the moment they sit in our chair. My mission is simple: to use creativity to make people feel beautiful—not just on the outside, but in the way they experience some of life's most meaningful moments.

And I still wake up every day feeling incredibly grateful that this is what I get to call my job.
